Wednesday, July 19, 2023Azimio la Umoja-allied politicians now claim government is arresting key politicians from its camp so that to weaken protests against attempts to arrest Raila Odinga.

In a viral update by Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly MCA Robert Alai today Wednesday July 19, he claimed that, after arresting key leaders in Azimio, the detectives were supposed to flush out Odinga from his hide out and arrest him as well.

Shops in the CBD remained shut during protests

Alai however said, upto the time of going to the press, the police sent to arrest Odinga had not located him anywhere.

“Arrest key Azimio leaders in key constituencies and wards who can organise a resistance during the arrest of Baba. Plans were to arrest Baba at 4AM this morning. They can’t find him anywhere. They thought he was sleeping in the same apartment as his bodyguard.

“Babu Owino plus the Nairobi MPs and MCAs arrested under the command of a former DCIO of Siaya. All operations being done by revamped SSU,” Alai claimed.

Another Azimio la Umoja supporter, Alnur Mohamed, reported that unknown people in plain clothes believed to be officers from the DCI had abducted Raila Odinga’s main bodyguard Maurice Ogeta when he was driving to report to work.

The abductors, he said, bundled him in their car boot and drove away with him to an unknown destination.

Miles away in Kisumu County, another stronghold of Raila, protestors turned major highways into bathrooms during the anti-government protests. They were seen bare-chested washing themselves as they chanted ‘Baba’ slogans.

And in Mathare area Nairobi, in was reported that two youth were shot and injured as anti-government protests escalated across the city.

Police could be seen also hurling stones back at protestors at Number 10 area in Mathare, Nairobi County before lobbing teargas to disperse the surging demonstrators.

The same events were captured in Mombasa County today as Azimio co-principal Martha Karua commented ‘Aluta Continua’.
