Tuesday, July 26, 2022 –It has emerged that there is another subcontracted local firm working for Smartmatic International Holdings Company.
The revelation is coming amid storm in the IEBC following the recent arrest of the three Venezuelans at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA, recently.
Following the arrest, Chairman Wafula Chebukati would emerge with orders to the DCI to free the men arguing that they were part of the Smartmatic firm which is the main contracted company.
It has, however, emerged that there is another local firm, Seamless Technologies, which Chebukati had not revealed to anyone and the owner now has surfaced claiming that the three suspects belonged to him.
Addressing this on NTV on Monday July 25, company CEO Abdullahi Mohamed said he went to the DCI headquarters immediately the saga was unraveled and identified himself to Mr. Kinoti with all the documentation required hoping that the DCI would be feeding the nation with the truth.
“When the saga broke out, I recorded statements with the DCI and gave all corresponding documents that pointed to the working relations between Smartmatic, IEBC, the Venezuelan nationals and Seamless technologies.
“I am surprised that they chose to share partial information with the public that has since turned me into a person of interest,” said Mohamed.
He clarified that Smartmatic had subcontracted his firm to do some work for the IEBC ahead of the general election and that it was now riskier for him to carry on with the work as his life is no longer safe.
Mohamed has a background in ICT and in 2017 he was also involved in a similar business.
