Monday, February 13, 2023 –Bomet Member of Parliament MP Linet ‘Toto’ Chepkorir has reportedly employed atleast six of her family members in her office. Details have emerged.
Toto has today been dragged to the Employment and Labor Relations Court in Nairobi to explain how she ended up picking her relatives for various State positions in her office.
Collins Barno and Stanley Kiprotich marched to the court after they accused the woman representative of nepotism when it comes to the few available jobs in her department.
The two applicants claim in their court documents that Linet had absorbed six out of 15 family members as her staff; what is not lawful with the Constitution.
This means she did not respect the tenets of law that requires transparency, merit and integrity during such important appointments.
“While employing her family members she also ignored gender principle which is since there are only three women out of fifteen staff members,” the court papers stated in part.
They added that the politician has been using her relatives to steal public money and enrich herself before 2027.
“The six relatives are being paid sh 612,000 out of sh 811,000 allocated for staff salaries,” the Labour Court was told.
Homenews.co.ke has since learnt that the six alleged family members occupy the following positions in her office – County manager office of woman representative, deputy manager, county coordinator, field officer, communications officer, and medical personnel.
In her response, the politician termed the claims as strange and baseless.
