Wednesday, January 17, 2024 -Law Society of Kenya LSK President Eric Theuri has warned Chief Justice Martha Koome against holding any type of discussion with President William Ruto.
In today’s Wednesday January 17 firm statement, the LSK boss argued that there cannot be an option of meeting with the head of State over corruption claims which he(Ruto) had accused the Judiciary of.
“We take a very firm position that the Chief Justice should not, under any circumstances, have a dialogue with the Executive over its remarks. The proper thing the president should do is to withdraw those remarks and apologize to Kenyans,” he said.
Lawyer Theuri spoke this in Nairobi today just hours after President Ruto had accepted a ceasefire discussion with Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Orange Democratic Movement ODM boss Raila Odinga also has taken issue with the looming meeting between the CJ and the head of State.
Odinga said the only way out should be for Ruto to tender an apology or file a corruption case against the Judiciary using the laid down channels.
He said Ruto meeting the CJ will compromise the justice system.
