Sunday, August 27, 2023 Lawyer and renowned Pan-Africanist Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba has threatened to collect a million signatures to reverse some of the President William Ruto’s directives.

In his address on Sunday August 27, in respect to the 13th Anniversary of the promulgation of the Kenyan Constitution, PLO Lumumba sought to know why and how the president was running the executive outside the law.

Kenya Kwanza government

In the press briefing held in Nairobi today, the team led by the Pan-Africanist raised pertinent issues as to how the current structure of government is created.

They questioned among other offices, why the current executive structure had created unconstitutional offices like that of the Chief Cabinet Secretary CCS Musalia Mudavadi and his spouse.

Also in question is the 50 plus positions for Chief Administrative Secretaries CASs which the court is expected to decide on.

“There are those who believe that the architecture of our executive arm of government ought to be examined,” he revealed.

“We have seen the creation of an office called PCS. It is not directly mentioned in the Constitution. We have seen the creation of CAS and we are saying the time is now to examine our executive and satisfy ourselves that it is something that can take us forward,” said the lawyer.

The camp also poked holes in the way the devolution was being handled as well as independent commissions in the country.

Lumumba, therefore, urged anyone who wants to join their course to do so ahead of the planned signature collection drive set to start any time.

“In that endeavor, we shall do our very best. We will have people who will support us and we will have people who will support us,” announced Lumumba.

The lawyer pointed out that their target is to have not less than one million signatures to support their course against some of the directives by the current administration.

“We are saying that on a day to be announced, we shall commence the process of collection of signatures, which are to be a minimum of 1 million, in order to ignite the process of a popular initiative,” the former Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission EACC director added.

These threats coming at the time the Azimio la Umoja group is in its finals stages of collecting, at least, 15 million signatures to pile pressure on the current regime to listen to their grievances listed in the ongoing bipartisan discussions at the Bomas of Kenya.

Talks at the Bomas are being led by Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
