Malala had no Option but to Concede Defeat – Barasa

Tuesday, August 30, 2022 –Governor-elect Fernandes Barasa has accused Cleophas Malala of massive voter bribery to win election which he still lost.

The new governor of Kakamega County told Wahiga Mwaura on Citizen Tv news of Tuesday night that they had filed so many bribery cases against the former senator who was seeking to take over from Wycliffe Oparanya who has since served his two terms in office.

He said, despite Malala having voluntarily conceded defeat today, he(Malala) actually had not option because he had been beaten fair and square.

Mr. Barasa who had been asked whether he could work with Mr. Malala to ensure development and progress, interestingly, did not speak about this but instead maintained his willingness to continue with the legacy of his predecessor, Mr. Oparanya.

“I am going to build on the existing legacy and my priority is health sector and also look at Agriculture. I will partner to make sure Bukura Agricultural College is well utilized,” Barasa assured.

The Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party candidate managed to beat Malala of Amani National Congress ANC Party by over 30,000 votes.
