Saturday, January 20, 2024 –United Democratic Movement UDA Party Secretary General Cleophas Malala faced a tough interview on Spice FM on Friday January 19 morning.
In an interview hosted by Eric Latiff and Ms Nduh Okoh, the UDA official who was trying to save face of the Kenya Kwanza government, appeared to struggle to explain how courts were interfering with the development programmes of their government.
In his defense, Mr. Malala said the head of State was just echoing what was said by many other leaders including former chief justices as well as former presidents as well as the opposition leader Raila Odinga.
“The former president Uhuru Kenyatta same to the opposition leader have all accused the judiciary of runway corruption and wrong rulings.
“These orders from our courts have no interest of the people at heart e.g health cover orders which stops NHIF from operating,” he stated before he was stopped by his hosts who had done enough research.
Eric Latiff interjected seeking to know which court order had stopped NHIF from operating after Malala said that children can nolonger receive treatment from the scheme.
This far saw Mr. Malala secretly switch topic to affordable housing subject claiming that some rogue judges had stopped the affordable housing project.
But before he could complete his statement, Latiff sought to know why Malala was making unsubstantiated remarks that do not have facts.
“The court order only questioned the housing levy and not the housing project. Ruto can still build houses if he wants. Which is this court order that stopped housing project?
“None of the orders, in my view, have stopped the project if public participation is carried out conclusively?” Latiff further explained.
Malala had said orders were interfering with important projects which the current head of State has proposed to help move the country to another level.
He added that employment was going to benefit many youths when the housing project officially starts across the country.
The former Kakamega senator’s remarks of Spice FM followed his earlier controversial tweet in which he claimed that President Ruto had lowered the cost of fuel.
“Kenyans laud President William Ruto administration for the reduction of fuel prices,” Malala had tweeted on January 16.
Malala’s remark was quickly countered by a section of social media users who wondered why he cannot remember that, just the other day, Ruto confessed doing nothing on the fuel prices because this falls under what he termed as ‘global factors’.
