Mandago Arrested While Planning to Join Ruto in a Local Rally

Wednesday August 16, 2023-Embattled Uasin Gishu Senator and former Governor Jackson Mandago has been arrested in Eldoret.

The politician was pounced on by the police as he was planning to join his boss President William Ruto in a rally in the area.

His arrest coming shortly after a Nakuru Court issued to the prosecution an arrest warrant over his links to the mismanagement of the sh 1 billion Finland and Canada scholarship money that left locals poorer.

A source told Homenews.co.ke that the former governor was picked up from his Eldoret home following claims that he conspired to defraud parents in the faulty programme that ended in tears for many parents and their children.

On his arrest, according to reports, the Senator was quickly whisked away to the Nakuru Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI offices to record a statement.

This is the second time the parliamentarian is recording a statement withthe DCI after his grilling at the Directorate Kiambu headquarters on Thursday, Aug 10.

On Thursday, the politician volunteered himself at the station after locals poured on the streets to protest against his leadership.

Today Wednesday August 16, locals pressured President William Ruto to intervene in the matter during his tour in town.

In his reaction, Ruto openly promised to follow up the matter through the rightful channels until the money is refunded to owners.

Addressing in Eldoret on Wednesday August 16 where he had gone to open the Governors’ Devolution Conference, the commander-in-chief said he will make sure every coin taken from a poor local is refunded in full by those who participated in the process.

He also promised to support those affected in the scam to commence with their education.
