Maraga retires with sh 16M, monthly pension of sh 1,062,400

Wednesday, January 13, 2021 -David Maraga went back home for his retirement a smiling man with a whopping sh 15,934,656 retirement benefit.

The January 11 retirement package, according to Kenyans.co.ke, is a sum equivalent to one year salary paid for each term he served in office. Details show that the Chief Justice used to take home sh 1,328,000 every month.

To add on the retirement award, he will be entitled to a pension equal to 80 percent of his last monthly salary amounting to sh 1,062,400 each month.

Further he will have a medical cover of sh 10,000,000 inpatient service cover and sh 300,000 outpatient.

The former Supreme Court President was bid farewell by judges, magistrates, Judiciary staff and other stakeholders on Monday January 11, 2021.

According to various publication, Mr. Maraga will also be receiving sh 75,000 for dental cover and the same amount for optical cover.

He will also have two armed bodyguards throughout his life while his wife will be given an insurance cover.

David Maraga treated to a cake by his wife Yucabeth Nyokabi at their home shortly after the CJ arrived back.

And as he goes home for his resting, the State has provided him with staff that will have to serve him including two drivers, a personal assistant, one secretary, a gardener, cleaner and a fully furnished office. All these will be paid by the tax payer.

He will also be given two brand new saloon cars which must have a capacity of 2000cc. This is according to our reliable sources.

Moreover, the ex-CJ is entitled to a four wheel drive car which must have a capacity of 3000cc. The cars will be maintained by the government and replaceable every four years.

These benefits are in accordance with the Retirement Benefits for Deputy Presidents and Designated State officials Act 2015.
