Wednesday, December 29, 2021 –Maranda High School management has issued a directive that will see all students undergo mandatory drug tests.
It is required that all parents must produce their children for the tests before reporting back to school on Monday January 3, 2022.
This decision was reached at following a meeting held on December 23 which resolved that students get tested in public facilities or National Authority for the Campaign Against Drugs and Alcohol abuse NACADA.
“All the students to undergo a mandatory drug and substance test while at home. This must be done in a public health facility or NACADA,” the message read in part.
All learners at Maranda will therefore have to present valid test certificates on the opening day; what will be followed by another more test at the school to confirm the authenticity of the results.
“Subsequently, there shall be a random testing conducted in and by the school,” the message read in part.
It is also required that students will have to each pay sh 5,125 in damages for the structures razed down in latest infernos. This amount must be paid in full together with school fees.
Maranda High was among the school recently affected by deliberate fires set by students over unknown reasons.
