Thursday, November 16, 2023 –Harambee Stars threw away a 1-0 lead to go down 2-1 away to Gabon in the opening matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa qualifier played in Franceville on Thursday evening.
It had started well when Masoud Juma opened the scoring on the 40th minute to hand Kenya the lead heading to half time on the driving seat.
Sadly, Denis Bouanga leveled the scores for the hosts Gabon on the 60th minute before Guelor Kanga sealed the win.
Kenya will now shift attention to Seychelles whom they play on Monday away in Moroni.
Burundi currently top the Group F on three points after edging out The Gambia 3-2, Gabon have same points but with an inferior goal difference while Harambee Stars are bottom with no points behind The Gambia who also have zero points.
Ivory Coast and Sychelles are yet to play.
