Saturday, March 4, 2023 -Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua want former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i repatriated back to the country to face the law.
Speaking during a rally on Friday, March 3, DP Gachagua mentioned that Matiang’i should be around so that to answer to the charges leveled against him and not to run away from law.
He described Matiang’i as a man who is a coward to face the reality despite having purported to be a strong man in the last regime of Jubilee administration.
“He was called to record a simple statement but he decided to flee. Didn’t I tell you that these people were cowards?
“They came after us before the elections, but did we run? They arrested me and took away our property and we stayed put,” the DP stated.
The DP however reaffirmed that their new government will not start using police to fight their adversaries or those who voted the other way.
He promised that only law will be followed while dealing with those breaking the law in the country.
“Matiang’i suffers from hallucinations. He imagined the police arresting him. He thought we would send the police to him as they did to us.
“He (Matiang’i) could have asked me to teach him how to write a statement at DCI,” the DP quipped.
But even as the DP described the former CS as a coward person, Lawyer Danstan Omari representing Matiang’i maintained that the former CS flew to the UK to attend to urgent family matters.
