Saturday, July 23, 2022 –It is official that Ctizen’s Tv Yvonne Okwara Matole will be moderating Raila Odinga and William Ruto’s Tuesday debate.
Yvonne will be co-piloted by her counterpart from Kenya Television Network KTN Tv Eric Latiff in an event that will take place at Catholic University of East Africa CUEA on Tuesday July 26 from 5PM.
In the first tier, Roots Party’s Prof George Wajackoyah and Agano’s David Mwaure Waihiga will debate each other before Mr. Odinga and William Ruto takes to the stage in the second phase of candidates who have polled above five percent.
Homenews.co.ke has also learnt that NTV’s Joe Ageyo will moderate the panel discussions for both debates.
The choice of these names, according to the debate secretariat, was arrived at after thorough consultations that saw elements like objectivity, impartiality fairness and eloquence strictly factored.
“We reiterate that under the Presidential Debates Guidelines, the moderators will select the questions to be asked and shall not share the same with the candidates. They will not meet with any of the campaign teams or the candidates,” the secretariat said in their statement.
Last week, the exercise kicked off with Nairobi County gubernatorial candidates, followed by Tuesday’s Deputy presidential debate that saw Rigathi Gachagua of UDA Party and Martha Karua of Azimio la Umoja outshine each other on the floor.
Deputy President William Ruto recently issued a raft of measures he wants observed in the debate before he could confirm his participation.
