Saturday, February 10, 2024 –Lawyer Miguna Miguna has differed with senior crime journalist Dennis Onsarigo over the murder of Monica Kimani.
Taking to his official X platform on Saturday February 10 morning, Miguna, who was responding to Onsarigo’s claims that Jowie Irungu who was found guilty of murder could have been set up or walked himself into the scene.
“Jowie could have walked into a murder scene or set himself up to be caught. Is there evidence indicating that Jowie threatened Monica Kimani at any particular time? Are there friends of Monica who said he was a violent man or at one point he sent her threatening text messages or saw them publicly arguing or fighting?” Onsarigo argued in a long post he shared on X.
He went ahead to pose a question as to whether anyone including neighbours at Limuria Gardens heard someone scream.
“Did any neighbor/ witness say they heard screams/loud sounds/bang coming from Monicah’s apartment? What did the neighbor say about Monicah’s past guests and movements? Was anything lost from the house? … how violent and disturbed was the crime scene? (broken glasses/ bruises on Jowie?) Did Monicah report any threats on her life to the police in Kenya or in Sudan?” the former NTV investigative journalist posed.
Onsarigo went ahead to ask more questions on the blood-stained shirts and the short and why Jowie left his blooded short behind when he opted to burn the shirt.
“What led, the motive of the murder.
“If the clothes he was wearing were burnt to conceal the evidence of the murder, why did he forget to dispose off the short as well?” Onsarigo also added.
But in a sharp rejoinder, Dr. Miguna told him to think better as a seasoned crime/ investigative journalist and stop focusing on sideshows.
“You are off base! Jowie and Maribe were in it for money. For a former investigative journalist, you so focused on sideshow,” he responded.
The five-year case was settled yesterday in Nairobi’s High Court where magistrate Grace Nzioka found Jowie guilty of the murder and freed former Citizen Tv news anchor Jacque Maribe.
Jowie who now fully with the police, will be sentenced in due course.
