Monday, January 22, 2024 –Lawyer Miguna Miguna has poked holes into the Monday Executive-judiciary meeting held at the Statehouse Kenya.
Reacting hours after President William Ruto hosted Chief Justice Martha Koome today Monday January 22 at the Statehouse, the Kenyan-Canadian lawyer noted that the recommendations as passed in the sitting will lack proper implementation.
He pointed out that it was going to be difficult to get the proper committee to look into the major issues discussed today.
“Submit a report to whom? Who is the constitutional supervisor of the judiciary? Gracious Lord!” he wondered.

Speaking from the Coast today, Raila Odinga said Ruto is succeeding in his plot to manipulate the Judiciary through such meetings.
“State House is the home of the Executive. That is where the president resides. If there is going to be a dialogue over issues of governance, it should be held in a neutral ground,” Raila said.
The ODM leader said the meeting means the Judiciary is being compromised by the Executive so that all cases against government can favour the State.
“The Judiciary is being held hostage by the Executive, and we’ve seen this before. We saw it happen under the rule of Mr. Moi, and we’ve tried to caution the current CJ not to go to bed with the Executive,” Raila added.
He further termed the move as an unfortunate development, and hoped that the rest of the members of the Judiciary don’t go that direction.
Raila spoke this during his Monday visit in Lamu County.
From the meeting between Ruto and Koome, Judiciary secured 36 new judges and an additional budgetary support.
