Miguna Miguna Finally Allowed to Come in

Tuesday, November 30, 2021 –Government of Kenya has finally allowed exiled Lawyer Miguna Miguna to travel back into the country.

Through a letter expressly signed by Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto, Kenya’s High Commission in Ottawa and Berlin have been directed to facilitate Miguna’s travel documents so long as he provides the required documentation.

Miguna’s another attempt to fly into the country met a major blow on November 16 keeping him stranded in Berlin Germany over fresh red alerts.

The lawyer would then rush to court through his lawyers in Kenya who managed to acquire a court order in his favour but still this was ignored by Kenya’s Embassy in Berlin.

But in a new letter written to the Law Society of Kenya LSK President Nelson Havi, the Solicitor General has allowed oversee Embassies to clear Miguna.

“Upon the receipt of a court order issued by Lady Justice Hedwig Ong’udi on Nov 22, 2021, we advised the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and we have since received confirmation that the Department of Immigration has instructed the Immigration officers in Berlin and Ottawa to issue Miguna Miguna with the travel documents upon the filing of the requisite forms,” read the letter in part.

It was, however, still not clear when the government received the confirmation from the State Department of Immigration issuing the orders to the Kenyan Embassies in Germany and Canada.

The Solicitor General’s clearance letter dated Monday, November 29, comes barely a week after Miguna claimed that the Kenyan immigration officials in Berlin were still not cooperative.

The outspoken barrister was bundled into a Canada-bound plane in 2018 following his friction with the Jubilee administration which had just swung into power through polls that were majorly boycotted by the opposition. By then Miguna was the leader of the National Resistance Movement NRM.
