Saturday, January 22, 2022 –Exiled Lawyer Miguna Miguna has challenged Retired Chief Justice Willy Mutunga alongside LSK President Nelson Havi to keep their word on helping bring him back in Kenya.
The two lawyers – Mutunga and Havi – a few months ago threatened to travel to Canada to bring Miguna back home.
They appeared to have taken issue with the State for keeping Miguna exiled away from his home country despite several active court orders allowing him(Miguna) to be in the country.
Through a detailed publication, the emeritus Chief Justice stated that he had plans to travel on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 to accompany Miguna back to his motherland, Kenya.
Justifying his decision, the ex-CJ noted that he aimed to bring back the lawyer as a way of defending the independence of the Judiciary which he claimed was under immense attack by Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
“After careful reflection and following broad consultations with lawyers, human rights and justice defenders, progressive politicians, and Mr Miguna himself, I have decided to travel to Toronto, Canada, to accompany Mr Miguna on his flight back to his motherland on 16 November 2021. I am also seeking out Kenyan journalists who will accompany me on this historic journey,” he revealed in the publication.
Though they would then try to pile pressure on the State to allow Miguna travel home, their efforts melted along the way when they found fresh red-alerts against their client, Miguna.
Dr. Miguna is now reminding the two to keep their promise by traveling to Toronto Canada so that they can come with him at home if at all they were sincere with their promise.
“I’m still waiting for CJ Emeritus @WMutunga‘s arrival with his esteemed delegation that was scheduled to land at @TorontoPearson on November 12, 2021. We must keep demanding that each one of us remain faithful to promises we give – from Despot Uhuru Kenyatta to the villager,” Miguna tweeted on Saturday evening.

Mutunga, just like Mr. Havi, wanted Miguna’s birth rights safeguarded as per the laws of the land; a move that saw Miguna bank false hopes on them.
