Thursday, November 23, 2023 –Lawyer Miguna Miguna has exposed President William Ruto’s government on how it is promoting people who tortured him(Miguna) during Uhuru Kenyatta regime.
Responding to fellow lawyer Ahamednasir Abdullahi who had condemned the abduction of one Osman two weeks ago, Miguna listed a number of police officers who have recently been promoted to higher ranks in the service despite evidence that they played a major role in his torture before he was forced out of the country.
“Patriotic Kenyans are concerned that the person who commandeered the goons who blew up my house with explosives, abducted and tortured me – Sid Kiprotich – was promoted by President Ruto and is now the head of the Anti-Terror Unit. His immediate superiors at the time – Korome and Boninnet – were also promoted and now have the power to commit heinous crimes with impunity,” Miguna recounted.
He went on to wonder how this government is also quiet on the likes of Fred Matiang’i, Uhuru Kenyatta and Karanja Kibicho whom he believes commanded power to what happened at that time.
“Finally, those who gave orders to abduct, detain, torture, forcefully exile and disobey multiple court orders- Uhuru Kenyatta, Fred Matiang’i, and Karanja Kibicho – are walking about and living large under the Kenya Kwanza administration,” Miguna fired.
Dr. Miguna seized the opportunity to ask Lawyer Ahmednasir to apologise for being part of those who cheered his torture and ejection from the country in 2018.
“Kenyans are waiting for your unconditional apology and recompense,” he demanded.
Miguna was making this reaction after Lawyer Abdullahi had shared a photo hanging out with former Member of County Assembly MCA for South C Osman who was allegedly abducted by policemen under the command of a powerful politician two weeks ago.
“Osman visited me in my law chambers today and narrated his heart-wrenching ordeal. They held him for 8 days and tortured him brutally. Apparently, this powerful politician has special policemen from his tribe under his command and are independent of the normal police command structure. This is a very worrying trend and President,” Abdullahi shared.
He, therefore, challenged President William Ruto to come out to address the matter before many other innocent Kenyans fall victim.
“Ruto must come openly and address this troublesome event of Mr. Osman and tell Kenyans why they are being abducted.
“It is worrying because Kenyans are being abducted, held for weeks, tortured, and then released,” added the lawyer.
Abdullahi argued that Osman’s case must be independently investigated and his abductors brought to book by reminding the president of his own words that abduction by police would end.
