Wednesday, July 12, 2023 -Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has gifted new rap group dubbed Spider Clan with items of unknown value and cash.
In his meeting with the group today Wednesday July 12 at his Nairobi mansion, the politician said he is looking forward to start rewarding the Kenyan artists who have been given a cold shoulder at home for long.
“We cannot be calling and paying foreign artists when you are here with good music. You also need our full support and this will go on from today,” he said while gifting them with various designer clothes, caps and shoes.
The assortment of stylish wardrobes were aimed at spicing the rappers’ new celeb lifestyle and give them hope of confidence to showcase their fresh talent amid stiff competition from other industry players.
In the clip shared on various socials, Spider Clan’s de facto leader Ngesh ‘Kaveve Kazoze’ is seen delivering a vote of thanks to the former Nairobi honcho for his benevolence while also noting that, after many unfulfilled promises from several members of the public, they’d finally attracted the attention of a public figure in the name of Sonko out of their viral fame.
“Tumeshukuru sana sisi kama Spider Clan, tumepiga looku, at least, promise moja imetimiza manze. Tumepewa promises mob, karibu tu give up but sasa tuko fiti, tumeshukuru sana,” she said.
In other videos, a beaming Sonko, in his typical outlandish attire, is seen having a photo shoot with the group as they boast in their new shirts.
They then go on to freestyle together with Mr. Sonko who seems well-versed with each of their line in the viral hit.
Sonko would then acknowledge their talent, saying he had booked them a performance at his Coast-based nightclub this weekend as a sign of support to local industry.
Ngesh, a girl-next-door female rapper, blew to instant fame after ‘Kaveve Kazoze’ song became a viral hit across Kenya’s urban regions, becoming some sort of a meme and spawning incredibly popular refrains at nightclubs.
