Monday, May 23, 2022 –Directorate of Criminal Investigations office has confirmed surrender of Dennis Gachoki Karani of the infamous Mirema Drive murder.

While making his way into the DCI headquarters today Monday May 23 morning, the suspect told media that he was not involved in the chilling murder of Samuel Mugo Mugota in any way.

Dennis Karani Gachoki arrives at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road on Monday, May 23, 2022.

“I was in Nakuru when I learnt that the DCI labelled me as the most dangerous and armed criminal,” the suspect who was accompanied by his lawyer noted.

“Someone recognized me and told me that police had launched a manhunt and were tracking me down. Since then I have lacked peace,” he added.

Asked if he knew the diseased, Karani acknowledged having known him after meeting only two times in which they never even exchanged their contacts.

“I knew him but I had never had his contact. I got to know him in 2018 during a wedding ceremony in Meru. A friend of mine introduced me to Mugota. After the wedding, we used the same vehicle back to Nairobi.

“We never exchanged the contacts. At the time of his murder, I was in Nakuru when I heard that he has been killed. I learnt about his death through the media,” the suspect explained.

But in a recent communication from the DCI, the two had differed over proceeds of crime before one decided to take life of the other in complete broad day light.

“This among other beefs are suspected to have led to a bitter fallout leading to Monday’s, May 16, daylight murder of Samuel Mugoh Muvota, who has left behind seven grieving widows and countless children,” DCI reported.

This nonetheless, Gachoki denied saying he only trades in cereals and has never been involved in criminal activities as was reported by the DCI.
