Friday, September 22, 2023 –Politician Mishra Swarup has officially confirmed switching camp to William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance UDA Party.

Tendering a verbal apology on Thursday September 21, the former Kesses Member of Parliament regretted going against the Kalenjin wishes and, more so, their favourite candidate William Ruto.

He pointed out how the community had not only honoured and assimilated him as their own, but also added that he was sorry for supporting Azimio la Umoja candidate Raila Odinga who lost to William Ruto.

“To my kinsmen, the Kalenjin nation, Kenyans and to President Ruto, I once again offer my sincere apologies for any past wrongdoings and missteps,” said Mishra in a statement on Thursday.

He, therefore, promised to fully support the current government together with all the leaders who form it.

In last elections, Mishra ran on an independent ticket but, unfortunately, lost to UDA’s little-known Julius Rono.

While joining UDA, the businessman-cum-politician added that he was wrong but asked locals to accept him back as was before the elections.

Ahead of the elections, Dr. Ruto decided to pitch camp in Eldoret where he rallied supporters to vote out Mishra whom he referred to as ‘a rebel’.

“We gave him votes in 2017 but has since become full of pride and arrogance…when we shall be sending Azimio leaders home, vote out Mishra,” Ruto then said in May 2022.

He also made sure that Nandi Member of Parliament Alfred Keter lost the polls with a new entrant in politics on UDA ticket taking over his office.

Mishra has now seen light in Ruto’s type of leadership saying he was happy to see the president work day and nights to reposition Kenya as the main economic center in Africa.

That his open vision to place Kenya on the global stage as the premier investment destination would not only create a huge economy but also put opportunities into peoples’ pockets.

Now that he has joined UDA, he will likely be using the party to recapture his parliamentary seat, again in 2027.

Miles away on Thursday September 21, former chief agent for Raila Odinga, Ole Kanchory Saitabao, also hinted at crossing over.

The lawyer made a cryptic social media post by recalling his past encounter with President William Ruto.

“William Ruto gave me this way back in 2010. That’s how far back we come with the 5th,” the short caption showing an image of Ruto’s signature read.

After last year’s general elections, Kanchory decided to author a book that covered all the events that took place in Azimio camp which was heavily banking on false hopes of Uhuru Kenyatta who was by then the commander-in-chief.

Sadly, Azimio ended up losing the polls; what led to a number of Raila Odinga’s top allies immediately go silent some switched camp to the ruling side.

Among those who were hit hard by the loss are former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and his Mombasa County counterpart Hassan Ali Joho. Uhuru’s right hand men led by David Murathe also and quickly vanished into the wind, to date.

Politicians Maina Kamanda as well as Peter Kenneth also went missing immediately Ruto was declared at the Bomas of Kenya.

In addition, Central Organization of Trade Union COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli would quickly eat humble pie to save his face from humiliation.

Since then, Atwoli has sustained onslaught on the opposition, in particular, Mr. Odinga for staging demonstrations against the Ruto’s government.

Atwoli also urged workers across the country not to support calls for protests saying it amounts to lawlessness as well as waste of time that could have been used in other productive matters.
