Missing Ugandan MP Speaks, Refuses to Give Details

Tuesday, October 11, 2022 –Ugandan Member of Parliament who was reported missing in Nairobi has surfaced at home(Uganda) this evening.

There was a lot of fuss and confusion surrounding MP David Wakikona’s sudden disappearance while in Kenya for an official duty but by evening today, reports emerged from his country that he was safe and back home.

His disappearance caused anxiety not only in Uganda but also Kenya after reports emerged that he had gone missing moments after he was spotted in a city cab.

But confirming his safety and dispelling the rumour of getting lost, the legislator told a Uganda channel that he is safely at home.

“I am here [in Kampala], you come to Parliament you will see me,” Wakikona told The Monitor in a brief phone call today afternoon.

He however did not shed more light on what had transpired and how he quietly traveled back to his home Uganda.

The ex-Trade and Antiques Minister reportedly chose to hang up his phone immediately after confirming his safety. He also did not sound like he was under any duress.

Police in Kenya have also said the veteran lawmaker was safe in Uganda and that there should be no more tension around.

 “There was a missing person report filed at the police station and the DCI took over the investigations. He was found and has already returned to Uganda,” the OCPD from Kilimani is quoted.

In the morning today Tuesday, Ugandan National assembly Clerk had filed ‘a missing person’ report at Kilimani Police Station in which he revealed that the said MP disappeared on October 3 this year.
