Sunday, June 13, 2021 -Mombasa tycoon who ditched ODM Party in 2013 has announced a comeback in readiness for 2022.

Suleiman Shahbal who left Raila’s ODM Party at the pick of 2017 elections citing both frustrations and rigging announced his comeback saying ODM has been his dream home which is hard to leave.

Speaking shortly after decamping back to Raila Odinga’s party, the businessman stated that he was only forced to seek refuge elsewhere after ODM nominations were messed up with in 2013.

He had used ODM Party to contest in nominations which he lost to the current governor Ali Hassan Joho.

“I was in ODM in 2013. I was pushed out by Joho, and forced to seek a new party. This time round, I have returned home,” Shahbal said.

His coming back to ODM Party is seen by many as a signal to succeed Mr. Joho who is serving his last term and who has already expressed an interest in running for presidential seat.

Speaking on his latest move, Shahbal pledged to support Raila Odinga for the 2022 presidential ambition saying he feels he is the only man fit to take over the Statehouse from Mr. Kenyatta.

These sentiments however may not go well with Mr Joho who also wants to become the ODM flag bearer in 2022.
