Monday September 13 Declared National Holiday

Thursday, September 8, 2022 –Kenyans will not be going to work on Monday as President-elect William Ruto officially takes his oath of office.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i today September 8 declared Tuesday, September 13 a national holiday to allow citizens to usher in a new regime.

Through an official Gazette Notice dated September 8, Dr. Matiang’i noted that the holiday will allow Kenyans to follow the swearing-in activities scheduled to take place at Kasarani stadium, Nairobi.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, in the exercise of the powers conferred by section of the Public Holidays Act, declares Tuesday, the 13th September 2022, a public holiday, being the date of the swearing-in of the President-elect and Deputy President-elect,” partly read the gazette notice.

Ruto has invited scores of heads of States most of who have confirmed their arrival including Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni and Samia Suluhu of Tanzania.

Our sources have indicated that the Kasarani event will kick off from exactly 10AM.
