Wednesday, June 7, 2023 –Former Vice President Moody Awori’s daughter has passed on. Government has made this confirmation.
On Wednesday June 7 afternoon, the Senate and the National Assembly both mourned the demise of Ms Maria Elizabeth, the daughter of former Vice President Moody Awori.
Speaker Amason Kingi made this sad announcement on the afternoon of Wednesday, adding that, before her death, she was a principal assistant clerk.
The late Elizabeth had a Masters Degree and undergraduate from New Hampshire College, in Manchester, in the United Kingdom UK.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale was among the first leaders to mourn the late as a person who entered into the mainstream leadership at a tender age.
“She joined the Parliament when she was young. I, too, was young. You could never tell that she was the daughter of Moody Awori.
“My special condolences to Uncle Moody and the family. Fare thee well my sister. I was shocked when you mentioned her name,” Kakamega senator, Boni Khalwale, eulogised.
Her father, Mr Awori commonly referred to as Uncle Moody, was vice president during the Kibaki era but has since retired.
Full names, Moody Arthur Awori, is a former Kenyan politician who served as the ninth Vice President of Kenya from September 25, 2003 to January 9, 2008. He is also the author of Riding on a Tiger, an autobiography about his life in politics.
