Tuesday, February 22, 2022 –Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege is sick and admitted in a Nairobi Hospital. Details have emerged.
Making his legal presentation before that IEBC Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee on Tuesday morning February 22, her lawyer also MP Otiende Amollo disclosed that his client walked into a Nairobi hospital where her doctors advised that she should be admitted.
It is not clear when she will be discharged from the facility; what informed a move for her lawyer to ask for rescheduling of the hearing until further notice.
“In those circumstances, the respondent was not able to be with us. We did not get that letter to be addressed any earlier because being indisposed is not predictable as to when she would be in a position to be discharged or to attend,” Lawyer Otiende stated.
Her lawyer also told the Committee that her client got admitted on February 16 and more details will be availed once they get proper information from doctors attending to her.
“The doctor addressed this letter at our request to confirm that the respondent is indisposed. She was admitted on February 16 and is currently undergoing treatment,” added Otiende.
The committee had summoned the woman representative to shed some light on her vote-rigging utterances she made in Vihiga County during the Azimio la Umoja Western Region edition.
Lawyer James Orengo and Otiende Amollo, while making their first defense last week, said their client’s words were blown out of proportion by political rivals. This however, did not convince the Commission chaired by Wafula Chebukati who ruled that the matter should go full circle.
