Sunday, May 8, 2022 –Vocal Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua’s elder brother has died. The family has made the confirmation.

Making the news public on Sunday May 8 afternoon through his Facebook page, MP Gachagua said his brother, James Reriani Gachagua, died after battling a long illness.

In the same saddening confirmation post of May 8, the Member of Parliament stated that the late had died at the age of 78.

“We thank God for the life of our eldest brother and the head of the greater Gachagua family, James Reriani Gachagua who has gone to be with the Lord after a long illness bravely borne. We give glory to the Lord for the 78 years he lived and hold his immediate family in prayer as we embark on arrangements to lay him to rest. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” read Gachagua’s post.

The late Reriani, according to out sources, was a step brother to Hon. Gachagua and who has been a telecommunication engineer.

After the death, Nyeri County Governor Mutahi Kahiga was among the first persons to send their message of condolence describing the late as a man of the people.

“I condoled with the family and friends of the late James Reriani Gachagua at his Hiriga home in Mathira West,” Governor Kahiga stated.

He will be buried at his Mathira home.
