Tuesday, October 26, 2021 –Junet Mohamed has received a rare support from Kieni legislator Kanini Kega over the recent sentiments he made in Nyamira and which created a lot of heat around the vote rich Mt Kenya Region.
While in Nyamira County over the weekend, Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed said when the presidency gets into their hands, it will squarely belong to Nyanza Region and those from the Central part of the country will only be treated as mere visitors.
MP Kanini, however, has urged their supporters to remain united as ODM and Jubilee merger forges ahead to take power in 2022.
“The Lake and the Mountain remain united. Baba is a statesman. My colleague Junet’s statement was in jest. Let’s not create a mountain out of an anthill,” Mr. Kega said.
Though the statement from the ODM stalwart had not augured well with a section of Ruto allies from the Mountain, the Raila-Uhuru Camp is fighting hard to neutralize the effects which were being blown out of proportions by their immediate rivals in UDA.
MP Junet – an ally of Odinga – found himself at the center of heat after his derogatory remarks he made during a fundraiser where Odinga and a section of Jubilee Cabinet Ministers had also attended.
He jokingly told Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe that he must be prepared to visit Nyanza Region as a visitor once ODM Party seizes power.
He went ahead to even unapologetically state that Kikuyu had enjoyed power for over two decades and it was now time for Nyanza to swim in it.
