Saturday, August 12, 2023 –Witty Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Kahmala carried traditional maize flour from his rural home to Nairobi in a sack.
Making the revelation through his official Facebook page, the second term lawmaker said he had to carry along the posho mill flour from his Shibuli area in Kakamega to Nairobi because the cost of buying packet 2kg has gone up now retailing at sh 230.
Khamala disclosed that his wife encouraged him to carry along the stuff to Nairobi so that to save on the cost of spending on meals while in the city.
In the clip that is doing rounds on social media, the vocal ODM MP states that, he used Skyway Flight through Kitale from Kakamega to Nairobi, unnoticed.
“This flour came all the way from my rural Shubuli in Kakamega to Kitale and now to Nairobi. It was prepared in a posho mill at home,” he narrated.
The reason is that the posho mill flour is much stronger than the packet flour and that, to be energetic and to save money, it is the only option.
He also encouraged Kenyans to continue tilling their lands and plant maize and beans to save themselves from pangs of hunger.
The legislator urged locals to embrace farming using government subsidized fertilizer and asked anybody with farming challenges to reach out to him for help.
