Sunday, February 5, 2023 –Mumias East Member of Parliament MP Peter Salasya wants to employ teachers using self-raised funds.
While thanking the head of State for facilitating the recent employment of atleast 30,000 teachers across the country, Salasya expressed his reservations in the number of staff given to his constituency.
He revealed having received only seven teachers in his area; what is not enough if the number of local schools is anything to go by.
He now expects to raise money about sh 6 million which he will use in paying the teachers’ salaries each sh 10,000 every month.
“Because of this I am planning to employ 50 primary teachers each Sh10,000 a month through Harambee on March 1st to raise Sh6million,” Playful Salasya wrote on Saturday.
So far, TSC has completed the recruitment of over 30,000 teachers around the country who have started working in their various stations.
Most of this group will be well-trained and prepared to handle the newly-introduced Competency-Based Curriculum CBC.
“We target to train 90,000 teachers between January and April,” TSC chief executive officer Nancy Macharia.
This latest employment exercise saw TSC hire 10,000 teachers on permanent and pensionable terms while 25,550 teachers would be mere interns.
