Monday, November 27, 2023 –Amid escalating downturn in economy, another top Kenyan startup MPost is relocating its offices to Rwanda.
MPost, the Kenyan tech startup that focuses on transforming mobile numbers into virtual addresses, is relocating headquarters from Nairobi to Rwanda effective this month November 2023.
In a statement seen by Kenyawide.com, the startup says this strategic move reveals a significant shift in its operational landscape and aligns with the favourable business environment that Rwanda offers to tech startups.
Founded in 2016 by Abdulaziz Omar and Twahir Ahmed, the startup’s platform enables the conversion of mobile numbers into official virtual addresses, which allows notifications to be sent to clients whenever they get mail through their postal addresses. It currently operates in Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi, and has been a trailblazer in the digital addressing, postal, logistics, and eCommerce space.
In Rwanda, MPost will be hosted at Norrsken, a Swedish coworking space and investment fund which opened in the East African country in 2019.
“We are excited about the opportunities that this strategic move brings, and we are honored to be hosted at Norrsken,” Twahir Mohamed, Founder of MPost said,
“This decision serves as our launchpad into Africa, and we look forward to contributing to Kigali’s thriving business community while leveraging the support and resources available at Norrsken to propel MPost to new heights.”
The startup says the government of Rwanda’s commitment to supporting innovation by providing a conducive environment for tech entrepreneurs has played a pivotal role in this strategic relocation. Renowned for its burgeoning tech ecosystem marked with a vibrant startup community, Rwanda emerges as an ideal landscape for MPost to expand its operations.
The firm also adds that it looks forward to a future of sustained growth, technological innovation, and collaborative partnerships in its new headquarters in Kigali.
