MPs set to raid KEMSA warehouses for PPEs

Members of Parliament have now threatened to stage a war with Uhuru Kenyatta government over the way its handling Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

This is triggered by the deaths of several medical doctors across the country as well as unmentioned deaths of poor Kenyans despite the government having procured Personal Protective Equipment PPEs which they are not disbursing to hospitals hoping to cash on it.

The MPs, according to insiders, are now planning to raid the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority KEMSA warehouses on Thursday December 10 with an aim of fishing out all the gears which are lying idle there.

It is reported that the KEMSA Warehouses are currently housing the milti-million PPEs which should be helping medical staff across the country run their duty safely.

The MPS further claim that Uhuru Kenyatta-led-government was only hell-bent on doing business with Kenyans lives what amounts to getting their priorities wrong all the time.

Kisumu East legislator Shakeel Shabbir, while addressing during the International Anti-corruption Day held in Kiambu on Wednesday December 9^th, further noted that they will be using force to make government move fast since it seems to be taking a longer time to understand the urgency on this matter.

“Tomorrow, I personally will lead a group of MPs to KEMSA to break in and take out the PPEs they are hiding there,” declared Shabirr, also the chairperson of the African Parliamentarians’ Network Against Corruption.

He pointed out that the protective gears are lying idle against the parliament’s recent directive to have them quickly supplied freely for Kenyan doctors’ use.

“The KEMSA officials are not listening to our demands and we have to take action.”

“We have to get physical in an active way,” he added.

He was speaking this just a day after Cabinet Administrative Secretary CAS Mercy Mwangangi announced before the House Health Committee their plans to release the PPEs from the warehouses by Friday morning.
