Saturday, September 10, 2022 –Tycoons from Mt Kenya Region who were against William Ruto’s presidential ambitions have considered to work with the president-elect and his deputy.
The group dubbed the Mt. Kenya Foundation which had assured Raila Odinga of victory through their support, have moved with speed to congratulate Ruto and promised to work with him for development of the nation.
In their joint address with Gema Cultural Association GCA on Friday September 9, the countable billionaires indicated their willingness to heal the country through unity.
Foundation chairperson Peter Munga and GCA Rev Lawi Imathiu led the group which also comprised former Water Cabinet Secretary, Sicily Kariuki.
“We take this opportunity to congratulate the president-elect and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua for their election to the presidency and we promise to support his government and pray that God will help him fulfil the vision for our great nation,” read the statement in part.
They urged the new administration to focus on the unity of the nation just like their predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta has been doing.
“As a father would do, we expect the president-elect will develop the country equally. All elected leaders should address the issues of drought and high cost of living that are affecting Kenyans,” the statement also read.
The Peter Munga-led camp, however, concluded by saying their choice(Mr. Odinga) had lost, though, that is where their hearts were, initially.
They appreciated the work Odinga and his ex-running mate Martha Karua had contributed to the nation especially in their quest for both justice and democracy.
