Sunday, August 27, 2023 –President William Ruto’s long time personal aide Farouk Kibet was used to talk to both Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi leading to their reunion with William Ruto ahead of last year’s general election.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, on Sunday, August 27, in Bungoma County during Ruto’s Western Kenya tour, made these revelations saying, though, it was not easy crossing over from Raila’s side, they finally made up their mind and joined Ruto because of Farouk Kibet’s persistence.
He disclosed how Farouk hosted him on four dinner dates that finally bore the fruits that Kenya Kwanza enjoys today.
Wetang’ula revealed that it took time to get convinced by Farouk owing to the fact that they had supported Raila Odinga twice – 2013 and 2017 – General Elections.
For Mudavadi, conversely, he supported Raila in 2017 after both contested and lost the presidency in 2013.
Mr. Wetang’ula, who was speaking during a church service in Bungoma County, shared for the first time, these details that led to the formation of Kenya Kwanza coalition.
He added that Farouk Kibet played a major role in talking to them, night and day, until they softened their stand towards Dr. Ruto.
“This is my brother (Mudavadi). Musalia and I ate Farouk Kibet’s dinner four times before we met you,” Wetangula told the Head of State amid applause from the audience.
“We were meeting to plan and discuss the pros and cons. We had struggled in 2013 and 2017 and wanted to know what next,” Wetang’ula disclosed.
And after joining Ruto, they never looked back and finally vindicated following the August 9 victory that saw KK camp handed the IEBC certificate at the Bomas of Kenya.
Recently, majority leader in the National Assembly confessed that Farouk is a senior person in the KK formation despite him not having an official office.
He revealed that, at the Statehouse, Farouk, authoritatively, deciders who will access the facility and who will not.
