Tuesday September 21, 2021 -Endorsement of Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua as the interim spokeswoman for Mt Kenya Unity Forum has been dealt a big blow after David Murathe reportedly poured cold water on the idea.

Martha was on Monday September 20 picked to lead the unity talks around Mt. Kenya ahead of 2022 political race. The Naivasha meeting that saw her endorsed was attended by a lean team of Moses Kuria from Gatundu South, ex-Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and a few other political lightweights.

Karua was unanimously endorsed to steer the talks of the region and to make sure unity prevails ahead of 2022. She was installed as the interim GEMA Community Spokesperson.

This idea has however received a big blow barely 24 hours after the announcement with Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe allegedly saying the only recognized spokesperson for the region was still President Uhuru Kenyatta and others were ‘conmen and con-women’ who have been send by Deputy President William Ruto to auction their community.

“Uhuru Kenyatta is the only Mount Kenya leader & spokesperson, others are Karen sent Conmen & conladies,” a social media post linked to Murathe read.

In a press briefing they issued on Monday September 20 after endorsing Karua, the team promised to stick together to protect the interests of their community.

“For the avoidance of doubt this forum has today chosen Martha Karua to be our official convener and our spokesperson,” Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria stated.

On her part, Ms Karua noted that the unity forum will not only serve the 2022 purposes but beyond that.
