Saturday, August 26, 2023 –New Kenya Airports Authority KAA Managing Director has been announced in a meeting held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport today Saturday August 26 morning.
Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen who visited the facility in the morning announced the replacement of KAA Managing Director Alex Gitari with Mr. Henry Ogoye.
Murkomen, who yesterday Friday had announced that he will be taking a stern action following a prolonged blackout, made the changes, he said, will improve service delivery.
“Further; in order to ensure that a similar incident is not replicated, it has been decided that the two generators that were procured more than two years ago be immediately commissioned,” he said.
Addressing the media after inspecting of the airport, the CS announced that the contract of the MD was terminated by mutual consent.
This is after holding hour-long consultations with the KAA Board that finally reached the decision.
“By Mutual consent, the contract of Mr Alex Gitari who has been the managing director of Kenya Airports Authority has been terminated. In his place Mr. Henry Ogoye who has been Head of Corporate Affairs has been appointed as the Acting MD,” Murkomen stated.
At the same time, the CS also sent packing General Manager Engineering Fred Odawo and transferred JKIA airport manager Abel Gogo to the Coast.
Furthermore, this desk has learnt that Kisumu Airport manager, Selina Gor, was transferred to JKIA to succeed Odawo. She started her work immediately.
“I have further directed the Board to work on the staff attitude, mentorship and motivation to improve productivity,” Mr. Murkomen announced.
The former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator assured those using the airport that the blackout situation which occurred yesterday Friday will never repeat again.
