Sunday, June 2, 2024 –Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has vowed to ignore UDA Party Secretary General Cleophas Malala’s directives.
Speaking while on an inspection tour in Kijabe, CS Murkomen said, as a cabinet secretary, he will press on with countrywide tours to serve the country.
Without traversing the country and meeting the people, Murkomen wondered how it was going to be possible to deliver services especially in his infrastructure docket.
“Some people are telling me to just stay in the office because I am a cabinet secretary.
“They want me to just stay in the office and that I shouldn’t be seen walking around with Members of Parliament because I have become a boss,” said Murkomen.
He added that he will go on with his official schedule as allocated in his office and that any directive from Malala and likeminded persons will not stop him from working for Kenyans.
“As a CS, I will continue to visit the grassroots so that I can see the problems there. I must travel and inspect the roads and bridges so that I can help the citizens,” he added.
Mr. Malala, last week, had warned CS Murkomen and his Public Service counterpart Moses Kuria over involvement in politics at the expense of service delivery.
“It has come to my attention that some cabinet secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical,” said Malala.
The embattled UDA Secretary-General asked Murkomen to focus on issues in his ministry and serve Kenyans instead of politicking.
He also didn’t spare MPs, among them, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, whom he accused of disrespecting his seniors incluidng DP Rigathi Gachagua.
