Wednesday, July 23, 2024 ––Nominated Sports Cabinet Secretary Cs Kipchumba Murkomen has broken his silence hours after he was named in the new Cabinet lineup as unveiled by President William Ruto.
In an official statement he shared on his socials on Wednesday July 24, Mr. Murkomen asked every Kenyan he had offended during his first time as a cabinet secretary to forgive him and promised to hold high levels of integrity once sworn in a fresh.
“The last two weeks have been moments of deep reflection. I would like to unreservedly apologise to every Kenyan who I may have offended through my words, my deeds and my conduct, including my lifestyle, in the last two years of my public service.
“Subject to my approval by Parliament, I pledge to serve the people of Kenya diligently, with great humility and unwavering accountability,” added Murkomen.
Hee seized the opportunity to thank his boss President William Ruto for the reappointment to the new-look Cabinet.
“Honoured and grateful to have been nominated by H.E. the President @WilliamsRuto
as the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports.
Thank you, Mr. President, for this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation, Kenya,” also remarked Murkomen.
Before being dismissed, the former Elgeyo Marakwet senator was mandated to run the lucrative Roads and Transport docket as his colleague Ababu Namwamba was kept at the Sports and Culture Ministry.
Murkomen would, however, start receiving backclash from social media users who, most, scrutinised his lifestyle that was heavily characterised by expensive items including cars, accessories and imported outfits.
He was quoted in one of the popular online shows saying he puts on a belt worth sh 90,000.
President William Ruto today Wednesday unvelied his second batch of Cabinet Secretaries who included ODM Party politicians.
Among those named are Opiyo Wandayi(Energy) John Mbadi(Treasury), Hassan Joho(Mining), Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya(Cooperatives).
