Museveni Agrees to Propose Raila Odinga for the AU Chair Post

Wednesday, February 28, 2024 –Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni will be proposing Kenya’s opposition leader Raila Odinga for the plum African Union Commission post.

Making more revelations from Homa Bay Investment Conference today Wednesday February 28, Odinga said, he had reached out to President Museveni who agreed to propose him for the position.

According to Raila, he met Museveni to talk about the AU campaigns and how to run for the seat as Ruto and Museveni focused on the oil issue between the two nations.

“After we talked about my candidature, they talked about the issue of oil among themselves. I asked for their support and both of them agreed they would support me. President Museveni said he would be the one to propose me as the chair of AUC and I said thank you. I am not going away. Addis Ababa is only 2 hours away from Nairobi. I am available, whenever I am called, I will answer. I am ready to work with you people,” Raila announced today in Homa Bay.

Responding to claims that he will nolonger be available for the local politics, Mr. Odinga said he will frequently fly back home to check on the status of politics.

“Addis is only 2 hours away,’ Raila says on quitting Kenyan politics if he gets AU job,” added Mr. Odinga

He added that he is not about to bow out of politics and that, whatever is happening, should not be made to look like he was slowly fading away from Kenya’s political scene.

“Some of you might be forgetting, we said that we are unbwogable. We are also unpangarable. We cannot be pangad. We are unbwogable therefore have no fear at all, we are unbwogable and we will get there,” eh assured.

The AU chair hopeful further seized the opportunity to warn the William Ruto-led government against overtaxing the people.

He noted that the current taxing style will only do harm to the country and deny it even more key opportunities as businesses will shun investing around.
