Friday, January 15, 2021 -President Yoweri Museveni is already taking a lead in Uganda’s 2021 general election Presidential level.
The 76 year old president who has served for 35 years took an early lead against his closest challenger Robert Kyagulanyi who is only 38 years old. These are provisional results however.
As the vote counting goes on, the lead unfortunately seems widening and analyst have already seen a win on the side of the incumbent.
Museveni by Friday January 15 morning had a commanding lead according to the Uganda Electoral Commission which announced that the National Resistance Movement NRM Party candidate had gotten 1.5 million votes while Bobi Wine had only 647,146 votes representing 27.39% of 23% polling stations.
Bobi Wine had already warned against massive fraud and asked his supporters to be ready to walk the talk when that time comes. He cited internet shutdown and police brutality as some of the reasons election results in favour of Museveni cannot be trusted.
“The results the EC boss Simon Byabakama puts out are his business. We are in this to win,” he said after voting in Wakiso District.
During campaigns, Yoweri Museveni’s administration which is now seeking its sixth term, left so many people dead and scores injured following brutality the police force meted on Bobi Wine supporters.
Final results will be announced by Sunday afternoon.
