Wednesday, October 5, 2022 -Uganda’s army now says Yoweri Museveni’s son cannot declare an invasion of any kind by their army.
Reacting to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s series of threats on Kenya in which he threatened to invade, wind it up and put it under Uganda through a 14 day invasion, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has maintained that there is no such plan.
UPDF spokesman Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye asserted that Muhoozi’s claims were personal and ought to be treated as such. That the son of the sitting president has no powers to declare war against any country including Kenya.
He clarified that such powers must be sanctioned by the head of State or the Parliament and that there are specific channels through which such information can be communicated.
“We have three methods of communication. One, we have the internal method. Externally, it is through my office and the Ministry of Defence.
“No general can declare war except the head of state and Parliament,” General Felix Kulayigye stated.
The spokesman clarified that Uganda’s government still believes in a peaceful Africa which they will participate in making sure it remains as such.
