Wednesday, May 11, 2022 –United Democratic Alliance UDA Party Chairman Johnson Muthama has accused Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua of embezzling county funds before running to UDA.
Muthama, on Wednesday May 11, revealed how he has had issues with the outgoing governor and that it will be difficult for him to accommodate him in Kenya Kwanza before he responds to financial irregularities in their Machakos County.
The straight-firing UDA Party Chairman went on to remind the governor that, all along, funds have lost in Machakos County but the Mutua-led administration has never wanted to be held responsible.
“I have always been against the squandering of public funds which he has never rectified as of yesterday. I am a principled person and I could not see why I could compromise on my beliefs,” he noted.
The ex-Machakos Senator added that working with Mutua in Kenya Kwanza will be a tall order despite the latter having officially joined the William Ruto-led camp one day ago.
“Before appearing together in any rally with Mutua, he will have to to clarify a few thorny issues. It cannot take that shortcut. It has to be done in detail where he has to substantiate why there have been no services for Machakos people,” he said.
He has since challenged the governor to go public and apologize to the people of Machakos about the mess in the county. This, he argued, will help him start to plan on how he will correct that mess when elected to office this year.
“Is he going to repent and apologise to Machakos people? That is the way I may want to go,” he added.
He also downplayed the belief that the former Azimio member had brought on board any substantial support to their team.
Muthama was speaking this just a day after missing the Machakos tour which saw Ruto and Mutua traverse their county drumming up support for Kenya Kwanza election.
Muthama was the first senator of Machakos County.
