Wednesday, January 12, 2022 –National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has refuted claims that he had joined the One Kenya Alliance OKA camp.
The presidential aspirant has today dashed the dreams of OKA principals after he changed tune on joining the third force coalition.
Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, and Cyrus Jirongo last week paid him a courtesy call where he promised to work with them ahead of the August polls.
“Grateful to my brothers, @skmusyoka @MusaliaMudavadi,@Wetang’ula and Hon.Cyrus Jirongo who called on me at my residence this morning,to deliver their get well wishes following my recent surgery to rectify a fracture on my shoulder. I am recuperating well &will bounce back soon,” Speaker Justin Muturi said.
But addressing in a press briefing today Wednesday Januray 12 after a meeting with his Democratic Party (DP) National Executive Council members, Speaker Muturi dismissed any links with OKA.
He clarified that what the Kalonzo-led team came to do at his home was to only wish him well after he had a hand surgery.
“The decision of me engaging other parties in coalition talks can only be made by the top decision-making organ of DP.
“I cannot make that decision as an individual,” Muturi remarked.
The speaker who was accompanied by other members including party leader Francis Munyao, said a decision to join any coalition will be made during their NDC meeting.
The delegates promised to front Muturi as their flag bearer in the August polls which Raila and William Ruto are front runners.
