Saturday, October 5, 20214 –Former Nyeri County Governor Mwangi wa Iria has expressed his reservations with those calling for Ruto-Gachagua removal.
Addressing the media from Murang’a on Friday October 4, Wa Iria argued that the path the deputy had taken in their early days in office was costly and could see him easily removed and another person appointed by the president to play the deputy role.
He asked those attempting to call for the duo’s impeachment to think again because removing a president is not a walk in the park and is easier said than done.
“You can’t remove Ruto now. Let’s be truthful. You can only bring a motion to correct his ways but anyone even trying to imagine that removing the president is something easy, should forget,” the ex-governor said.
Mr. Mwangi noted further that it was a big blunder for Mr. Gachagua to fall into the trap of fighting his boss this early.
“Gachagua deciding to fight with Ruto in their second year is a big mistake. He should have known better. He must cross to the opposition and declare his stand publicly. You can’t be deputy president and, at the same time, in the opposition,” stated Mwangi wa Iria.
He said current political heat should help the DP to call a press briefing, apologise to the country and to his boss before finally calling it quits.
The former governor was addressing this as the country continues with public participation on whether to oust Gachagua or spare him to complete his term that only has three years to end.
Courts extended the impeachment exercise for another day upto Saturday October 5 citing cases of violence in many parts of the country.
