Wednesday, December 1, 2021 –Nairobi City has been rated the best city in Africa beating the well-renowned cities like Cape town, Cairo and Johannesburg.
In the ranking carried out by a research firm Expat City Ranking 2021, Kenya’s capital came 12th worldwide.
The ranking was based on the way visitors are treated in the city on arrival as well as the availability of housing. Nairobi also found itself at number 6 globally in terms of financial circulation.
“All three African cities featured rank among the bottom 10 in the quality of urban living and urban work life indices, except for Nairobi, which lands in 34th place in the latter index. Nairobi also outperforms the other cities when it comes to the ease of getting settled, as well as finances and housing,” partly read the survey.
This exclusive detailed report on housing, cost of living, urban quality, health, work life and finance, according to initiators, targeted 12,420 respondents in 57 cities across the world.
Nairobi was also found to be a very attractive city as compared to other cities in Africa due to its infrastructural network. This new finding contradicted the 2020 report which had ranked the Kenya’s capital a poor city in terms of infrastructural quality.
The 2020 report had also established that Nairobi has poor security, political challenges and un affordable living standards due to economic imbalances. It would then emerge among the worst cities in the world.
