Thursday, March 3, 2022 –Nairobi Members of County Assembly have accused Governor Anne Kananu of being drunk while on duty.

The section of MCAs from Nairobi County are up in arms with the governor whom they are accusing of absconding county duties and instead spending most of her time in night clubs and bars drinking with buddies in VIP lounges.

Led by Waithaka MCA, Antony Kiragu, the politicians claimed that Ms Kananu is not only incompetent but also careless as a government officer who earns sh 1 million to drink and party around the city.

In the hard hitting expose’, Kiragu further claimed that when the governor reports in office late in the morning, she is smelling booze and that the bottle she walks around with in many official meetings contains alcohol and not water.

“She is an absentee governor. Kananu is never in the office.
“She is accused of being a drunkard and that she is always drinking in nightclubs. The bottle she moves around with contains alcohol.
“We know that and we shall address it. We shall soon discuss this in the Assembly,” Kiragu claimed.

Kananu took over county duties after Mike Mbuvi Sonko was impeached over financial irregularities. This saw Kananu sworn in to finish the term. She is also vying for another term.

“I came into office on the agenda of cleaning up Nairobi, whereas we have made tremendous and remarkable progress, we aren’t done yet. So, I ask you Nairobians, vote for me as your Governor and let me finish what I started. Vote for Anne Kananu Mwenda,” she tweeted on February 18.

It is not clear which political party she will be using to vie but she already indicated her love for Azimio la Umoja movement led by Raila Odinga.
