Friday, July 12, 2024 –Health cabinet Secretary CS Susan Nakhumicha has broken her silence hours after the Cabinet was sent packing by President William Ruto yesterday Thursday
In her Friday early morning statement, Ms Nakhumicha thanked the president and the people of Kenya for according her a chance to serve in government of Kenya Kwanza.
She exlained that the opportunity imparted in her the required leadership skills that she will be willing to use elsewhere after exit from public service.
“I am grateful to H.E The President for giving me the opportunity to lead the rollout of Universal Health Coverage(UHC), which is one of the Government’s flagship programmes. It has been a busy 21 months where we initiated far-reaching reforms in the health sector, both legislatively and policy-wise, to lay a firm foundation for the realisation of UHC,” noted Nakhumicha.
She also thanked her Health Ministry team that helped her take the country through a list of achievements during her tenure in office.
“Proud of Ministry of Health team who midwifed these reforms, development partners and the legislature that passed the bills. Thanks to the Health workers for the support and my heart goes out to Community Health Promoters who made our mantra “Afya Nyumbani”. To those I didn’t meet your expectations, I take it that life is a learning experience,” highlighted Nakhumicha.
Her colleague Kipchumba Murkomen who was also sent home, observed that President William Ruto was a leader who had faith in him and that all through his tenure, he enjoyed working in the Cabinet of Kenya Kwanza to serve the people.
“It has been my greatest privilege and honor to serve my country as a Cabinet Secretary in charge of Roads & Transport. Thank you Mr. President for giving me the opportunity. God bless you and God bless Kenya”.
Ruto ordered the entire Cabinet team home following intensified pressure from Kenyans mostly the youth who felt his government was not working for the people.
Those who were spared are Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
