Monday, February 27, 2023 –Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has started skipping Raila Odinga’s anti-State political rallies.
The Democratic Action DAP elected governor missed, for the second time, to attend the ongoing Azimio countrywide anti-government rallies.
Over the weekend in Kitale Town on Sunday, February 26, 2023, the seasoned administrator skipped to appear in a rally which his party leader Eugene Wamalwa was part of.
When Roots Party Leader Prof George Wajackoyah was invited to the podium to make his remarks, he appeared concerned over Natembeya’s whereabouts.
A visibly angry Wajackoyah told the former Rift Valley regional commissioner that he owes his success to Raila Odinga.
“Governor wa hapa akae akijua Baba (Raila) ndiye alimpeleka kwa governorship. Governor wa hapa akae akijua kwamba next election Eugine eeh… (The local governor should know that it’s Raila who helped him ascend to the governorship),” Wajackoya said, further alluding that the opposition would front Mr. Wamalwa for the governor’s seat in the next general election.
Governor Natembeya is among the many county bosses who have pledged to work with President Ruto’s administration.
In the recent Rift Valley security meeting, the governor was on record wondering how political rallies will change Ruto for Raila in the Statehouse.
“Which miracle is going to happen to remove Ruto from Statehouse? We have this president for the next five years,” he stated..
Natembeya was saying this even as Azimio leaders pitched camp in Busia County for their anti-Ruto meetings.
