Wednesday, October 5, 2022 –New Director of Investigations DCI boss Hamisi Massa has refuted reports that he answered back Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In his latest statement over the claims, he has clarified that he had not hit back at the DP and that he plans not to engage the executive throughout his period of duty.
This is after Gachagua had gone wild on the office of the DCI which he said must be run professionally and not the drama which George Kinoti exhibited throughout his tenure.
“We are looking for a professional DCI, not a politician, not a drama queen. DCI officers are in civilian clothes because they are supposed to be discreet so that they are able to carry out investigations in a discreet manner, but we had a DCI who was always in the press. He made a whole confusion about the DCI.
“We want a professional DCI who will not spend his time on drama, on the press and will investigate cases properly, get evidence, and get a conviction,” he stated.
But Hamisi now says he had not directly linked his statement to Gachagua or what he(Gachagua) had spoken in an interview.
“The acting director asserted that, as a professional body with a crucial mandate in the criminal justice system, the DCI investigates serious crimes that have far-reaching implications within the country and where the crimes are transnational in nature.
“This is thus to clarify that at no point did the Ag DCI mention or refer to the DP or any other government official in his remarks, hence the newspaper headline presents a misreported and uncredited position,” partly read the statement from the DCI office.
DP Gachagua made the anti-Kinoti remarks on October 4 Citizen Tv interview.
