Friday, February 17, 2023 –Beleaguered KANU Party Secretary General Nick Salat has accused his boss Gideon Moi of engineering a fallout in the party.
While tendering his resigning letter on Friday February 17, Mr. Salat accused Gideon of open betrayal despite having been his loyal party official for many years.
“I refer to a series of correspondences between myself and the KANU Disciplinary Committee, in which functionaries within the ranks and file of the party with the connivance of the National Chairman purported to dismiss me from the position of Secretary General,” Salat stated.
He used the opportunity to warn that he will not allow Gideon Moi and a section of party officials to be part of the disciplinary hearing put in place to interrogate him..
“It is my position that my purported dismissal from the position of Secretary General as communicated through the press was unlawful and against the laws of natural justice,” Salat noted.
He went on to regret the events which led to his purported ouster but said he will have to abide by the Constitution of the party and wait until the dispute is resolved through appropriate mechanisms.
Salat and Gideon started falling out immediately after the last general election was concluded and which their Azimio candidate Raila Odinga lost to William Ruto.
